Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has faced several high-profile electoral defeats throughout his political career.

His most recent loss came on February 15, 2025, when Mahmoud Youssouf,  Djibouti’s Foreign Minister defeated him in the AUC chairmanship race in Addis Ababa.

Raila’s past losses include the 1997 presidential election, where he was floored by Daniel Moi, and the 2007 election, where Mwai Kibaki was declared the winner amid controversy.

Well known victory by Raila was the 2005 'No' campaign against the proposed constitution, in which he defeated then-President Kibaki in the referendum.
