Muthoni Truphena, a 21-year-old Kenyan, has invited all Kenyans to witness her attempt to set a new world record by hugging a tree continuously for 48 hours.
Truphena, who describes herself as an artist and mental health activist on her Facebook page, stated that she aims to break the current record held by Hakim Abdul, a Ghanaian national.
"Today is the big day. Starting at 6 PM Kenyan time, I will begin my challenge to hug a tree for 48 hours and surpass the current 24-hour record," Muthoni announced.
The young woman welcomed Kenyans to witness her record-breaking attempt at Michuki Park, where she hopes to secure a place in the Guinness World Records.
According to her, the choice of Michuki Park is strategic, as she draws inspiration from the late Environment Minister John Michuki, who played a significant role in restoring both the park and the Nairobi River.
Previously known as Mazingira Park, Michuki Park stretches along the Nairobi River from Globe Roundabout to Museum Bridge, covering approximately 10.4 hectares.

As reported by People Daily, her goal is to raise awareness about the importance of nature in combating mental health issues, which she describes as a crisis in Kenya.
"Mental health issues are causing distress among young people and the general public. Unfortunately, many do not appreciate Mother Nature's healing power. If you're feeling stressed, just take a walk in a nearby park, find a tree, or sit under one," she told the publication.
To prepare for the record attempt, Muthoni has been training for about five months.
"I have been walking long distances every morning and evening, covering an average of 42 kilometers. This has helped strengthen my muscles," she added.
She has also engaged a yoga coach to help her with mental preparation.
