Anti-abduction protests in Nairobi on Monday turned dramatic after Busia senator Okiya Omtatah and a group of protesters used a heavy-duty metal chain link to block an arrest by police officers deployed to control the crowd.

The senator had joined tens of Kenyans who took to the streets of Nairobi's central business district to demand the release of abducted Kenyan youths.

While chanting anti-abduction slogans, the group called for the unconditional release of the abducted youth.

Omtatah was seen carrying the Constitution of Kenya booklet which he displayed as he chanted alongside other protesters.
