The Congolese music icon reportedly appeared on stage without a band, relying instead on a flash disk and his phone to play pre-recorded tracks.
The highly anticipated event, which had fans paying up to Ksh 15,000 for VVIP tickets, quickly turned into a social media storm.
Attendees and online commentators alike expressed frustration over what they described as a "karaoke session."
One attendee noted the brevity of the performance: “Koffi Olomide appeared on stage only with his phone, played his recorded songs on flash disk and performed for just 10 minutes.”

Meanwhile, others criticized his approach, with one fan quipping: "He came solo with no band, recording himself on stage like a socialite instead of performing."
The reaction online was swift and scathing. Critics mocked the performance, with one asking: “Are we sure this was the real Koffi Olomide? Ati alikuja na flash disk?”
Another user commented: "Foreigners wanakuja Kenya kutuchota pesa kila siku. Hii ni madharau!"
This isn’t the first time international artists have faced backlash in Kenya for subpar performances.
Comparisons were drawn with other stars like Diamond Platnumz and Lauryn Hill, who were also criticized for late or lackluster shows.
As one user summarized: “Kenyans are getting lowballed by artists.”
Adding to the disappointment, some fans turned their attention to supporting local acts. One user remarked: “Mkiambiwa msupport Willy Paul mnajam, lakini kwa Koffi mnalipa 15K!”
Despite the outrage, some found humor in the situation. One tweet joked: "Koffi Olomide was chased away like brukenge when he attempted to perform karaoke." Another said: “Let me laugh on behalf of my citymates!”
As one attendee wryly concluded: "Kenya mtaibiwa live… and still pay for it.”
