Talented Kenyan Disc Jockey JT The Drone has opened up on the bounce back of the RnB genre within the African Continent.
The Drone who is an uptown vibe deejay from Nairobi says that the RnB culture has stood the test of time.
He further states that Kenya as a consumer of RnB has always taken a lead on the genre hence its survival among Kenyans.
“The only thing that has happened is the re-incarceration of this in Africa. Kenya has taken the lead on the genre and of course, time will tell if it holds up, especially for Festivals,” DJ JT the Drone said.
According to the DJ, Gen-Zs are slowly buying into the RnB culture as their numbers have drastically increased in festivals curated to celebrate the genre.

“Gen-Z is getting a little bit of culture shock from the fact that RnB is this huge. However, the Millenials are enjoying it given the fact that this is the music they grew up with.
“I have seen a lot of Gen-Z in RnB festivals and it’s proof that timeless music speaks louder across all cultures and ages,” he said.
At the same time, Drone is the co-founder of Rhythm and Brunch Africa - a signature event that transports attendees back in time to the golden age of RnB through music, ambiance, and vibes.
“Each Rhythm & Brunch features a lineup of DJs spinning the biggest hits and fan favorites from the late 90s and early 2000s, with a focus on artists like; Usher, Beyoncé, Alicia Keys, Ja Rule, Ashanti, Nelly, Destiny's Child, and more,” he explained.

“Guests get to hang out with their friends, brunch, and sing along to their favorite jams,".
He also touched on upcoming events for Rhythm & Brunch.
“The event is currently being held at different locations and has built a resounding following. December we do two editions one in Mombasa Kenya and the next in Dar es Salam Tanzania.
Rhythm & Brunch Africa is more than just a monthly party - it's a community,” he stated.
JT The Drone has built a loyal following of middle-class Africans and expatriate communities in their late 20s to 40s who grew up with this music and appreciate the opportunity to relieve those nostalgic moments in a safe, welcoming environment.
The talented DJ hails from a musical family as his grandfather was a great guitarist.
“I was born into a family that loved music. My grandfather was a guitarist and a pick of everyone was just music, either guy singing or my uncles in the studio just playing musical instruments,” Drone said.

He also went down memory lane to his first connection with Nairobi which he did not like at all.
“My connection with Nairobi was on and off, boarding school and holiday in the city back and forth.
“My first experience is me coming from shags via Easy Coach and being dropped off in Westlands. Nothing excited me about the city so I can’t relate to culture shock or any dynamics of city life,” he said.
However, he has created a name for himself as an established DJ who is now big at doing daytime parties.
“I have evolved as a DJ and now I’m doing more daytime parties. This club thing is becoming extinct and festival Day Parties are the future for me,” he signed off.
