Wueh! X has been on fire the past two days courtesy of the one and only Amerix!

Eric Amunga, popularly known as Amerix the self-proclaimed men’s advocate, who has built a strong following of 1.7 million on X (formerly Twitter), sparked a heated debate after appearing on NTV’s Your World.

Amerix had matter of factly stated that “at 30, a woman is supposed to be in marriage with children,” causing much angst and debate online.

The comments quickly went viral with Kenyans flocking to social media to express their views—some in agreement, but many more in opposition.

The outspoken reproductive health specialist and certified community health graduate from the University of Nairobi has never shied away from provocative opinions, but this time, his words struck a particularly raw nerve.

The X user has been known for his controversial opinions about male/female dynamics

Reactions Come In Hard and Fast

Many Kenyan women and men questioned Amerix’s stance, pointing out that personal fulfillment does not always align with societal norms.

One commenter, @june_nyar_onyuna_laktar, passionately argued, “Is marriage an achievement if I may ask? We have more burning issues to talk about.”

Another echoed this sentiment, stating, “If my peace of mind gets me labeled a red flag, then I’ll be the reddest red flag there is.”

Others didn’t hold back in their criticism of Amerix’s authority to speak on the matter, with @dr.keziah_njuguna sarcastically noting, “A divorced man advising married people.”

Another, @kamil.lk37, bluntly added, “Any man above 30, divorced or single, is a walking red flag.”

Some users dismissed his views altogether, with @fashioniconstan commenting, “Please don’t make your mothers’ choices our choices. We know better, and that’s why we are patient and selfish with ourselves.”

While the majority of the reactions were critical, Amerix had his share of supporters. Some argued for the traditional values he champions, suggesting that his intentions were to promote stability and purpose in family life.

One commenter, @samwestke, likened the process of finding the right partner to making popcorn: “At the right time, I the Lord will make it happen.”

Controversial Figure

This isn’t the first time Amerix has stirred public debate. Known for his hardline views on masculinity and family life, he regularly uses his platform to advise men on issues ranging from beating addictions to achieving financial independence.

Despite the backlash, he remains one of the most influential voices on X, a fact showed by his impressive following.

As a family man and civil servant based in Bungoma, Amerix balances his online advocacy with a career in reproductive health.

However, critics argue that his traditionalist perspectives are out of touch with modern realities, especially in a society that increasingly values individual choice over collective expectations.
