Tusker's George Kaddu and KCB's Francis Kahiro in recent action

Tusker FC head coach Charles Okere has thrown down the gauntlet to his squad, demanding consistency and a fighting spirit as the FKF Premier League resumes this weekend.

The Ruaraka-based outfit are currently seventh with nine points from seven matches.

The Brewers have managed just two wins; 1-0 against Sofapaka in the season opener at the Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos and 3-1 against FC Talanta in game week five.

They have recorded three draws— against Kakamega Homeboyz ( 2-2 ), Kenya Police ( 1-1 ) and Ulinzi Stars ( 1-1 )—and two losses.

The tactician believes the team is on the right trajectory and has shown good signs of improvement but he called on them to be more consistent.

“I believe we have made a lot of improvement but we must remain consistent,” Okere said.

Okere reckons that the team’s results will improve after having worked on their weak areas during the international break.

“I can’t fault the boys for the effort and I believe if we keep pushing this way, we will get good results in the coming matches,” he said.

In their most recent outing, Tusker suffered a narrow 3-2 defeat to league leaders KCB at St. Sebastian Park.

Francis Kahiro netted a brace with James Kinyanjui sealing the game for the bankers. Ryan Ogam netted twice for Tusker.

Okere further admitted that they have been conceding a lot of goals and have managed just one clean sheet.

Since their 1-0 victory against Batoto Ba Mungu at the start of the season, the Brewers have failed to record a clean sheet in their following league outings.

He, however, said the problems were addressed during the international break.

“We have put some work on the back-line to ensure it is more watertight once the league resumes,” he said.

Tusker will now shift their focus to Saturday’s clash against Nairobi City Stars at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos.

City Stars occupy position 13 on the log after amassing eight points from seven league outings.

Just like Tusker, they have recorded just two wins.

Last season, Tusker emerged victorious with a 3-1 win in the first leg with Joseph Mwangi, David Odoyo and Michael Oduor the heroes of the day.

In the second leg, they played to a 2-2 draw with Michael Kibwage and Eric Kapaito stunning City Stars in the first half before Samuel Kapen and Mohammed Bajaber levelled matters in the second half.
