Four-year-old Sean Njuguna was in the company of his friends when he was attacked, sustaining injuries to his face, chin and hands while Antony Fundi, a Grade Six learner, was attacked on his way to school.
The other victim, 50-year-old Samuel Mwangi, sustained serious injuries but managed to subdue and kill the animal.
The three victims are residents of Gatara and Maganjo villages in Murarandia, Kiharu Constituency in Murang’a.
“This animal is either a fox or a jackal, it attacked me forcing me to defend myself even though I was already wounded,” Mwangi said.
He noted that there had been rumours of a hyena wandering in the area, but it turned out to be a different animal.
The area residents have called on Kenya Wildlife Service officials to promptly investigate the incident and identify whether the wild animal is lone or part of a pack.
They said they are still living in fear and are concerned for the safety of their children.
