The replacement of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has taken a fresh twist with more names floated.

Senate impeached Gachagua on October 17. He becomes the first deputy president to be impeached in Kenya's history.

Senators voted to uphold at least five charges against Gachagua.

Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire is among the politicians from the Mt Kenya region whose names have been floated to the State House.

Other names said to be considered for the DP position from the Mt Kenya region include Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru and Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata.
