KCB delivered an impressive performance at this year's interbank golf tournament, securing a commendable second-place finish at the prestigious par-72 Royal Nairobi Club.
Improving on their fourth-place result from last year, the team posted a combined score of 184 points, just four points behind champions NCBA, who topped the leaderboard with 188 points.
Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) claimed third with 180 points, while Stanbic Bank trailed in fourth with 178 points, in a tournament that featured 298 players.
KCB Bank Captain Millicent Melo expressed pride in the team's effort, saying, “I am proud of this amazing team for putting on a show at this competitive event. This is a demonstration of the incredible work that goes into preparation for the tournament. We have been playing together in different events, so today’s win did not come as a surprise. It is a testament to teamwork, resilience, and dedication. We look forward to an even more exciting event next year.”
Veteran golfer Scola Onsongo continued her strong form, securing third place in the ladies' category with a score of 41 points.
Other notable performances came from Tim Kuria and James Mugo, each carding 37 points, with Millicent Melo and Ibrahim Lande contributing 35 points each.
Melo also highlighted the broader significance of the event, noting, "Beyond the normal office setting, the interbank tournament offers an opportunity for members within the banking sector to interact and enjoy themselves. It is also a good platform to keep fit, underscoring commitment to physical and mental well-being."
Last year, CBK won the tournament with 182 points, followed closely by NCBA with 181 points, Stanbic in third with 179 points, and KCB in fourth with 177 points.
The 39th edition of the Kenya Institute of Bankers (KIB) interbank sports is currently underway at the Kenya School of Monetary Studies (KSM).
