Some people actually think that we just oppose William Ruto for the sake of it. We just don't oppose Ruto for the sake of it.
We were in church today in Kiambu and I saw someone saying, “Did you guys not see the road that is being done from Rironi to Mau Summit goes through Naivasha?”
And I even saw [Homa Bay MP Peter] Kaluma saying that we are opposed to that road because it does not go to Mt Kenya.
Every day I go home - I am the senator for Nyandarua - I never use any other road. I go through Naivasha to Gilgil to Ol Kalou. Or I go through Flyover to Kinangop to Nyandarua.
The people of Nakuru are our people. They speak our language. So, in essence, the people who benefit the most from this road are the people from Mt Kenya. It passes through Kiambu.
So, it's our road. We are not opposing our road. We cannot oppose the government.
But it is also possible to do development at the right price. Uhuru Kenyatta left the presidency having awarded that road to a French company at Sh160 billion.
When President Ruto was elected, he said that Sh160 billion is too high. This road has been inflated. We must re-tender and give it to a person who can do it at a better price.
What happened? That tender was cancelled. We were taken to the tribunal and were fined Sh7 billion. So, the first charge that we got is Sh7 billion.
Now, the road is being done by China Railway and Building Corporation at a cost of Sh200 billion. So, that road is costing Sh207 billion.
Uhuru Kenyatta had given it at Sh160 billion. And then Ruto tells us that we have no brains. I am confused. Between Sh207 billion and Sh160 billion?
How comes Ruto thinks that Sh207 billion is lower than Sh160 billion?
