The Jubilee Party has announced the death of its nominated Member of the County Assembly (MCA) in Taita Taveta County, Margaret Kawuki.
In a condolence statement issued on Thursday, the party expressed sorrow over Kawuki’s death, describing her as a dedicated public servant who championed democracy, equality and women’s rights.
The statement, signed by Jubilee Party Secretary General Moitalel ole Kenta, said Kawuki’s death was a loss not only to her family and colleagues but also to the people of Taita Taveta and the wider democratic movement in Kenya.
“It is with profound sorrow and a deep sense of loss that I, on behalf of the Jubilee Party, convey our heartfelt condolences following the untimely passing of our nominated Member of the County Assembly of Taita Taveta County, Hon. Margaret Kawuki,” the statement read.
The party praised Kawuki for her commitment to public service, saying she remained a voice for people whose concerns were often overlooked.
Kawuki was described as a champion of democracy, equality and women’s rights who carried out her responsibilities with conviction, dignity and compassion.
“She was more than a dedicated member of Jubilee Party. She was a committed public servant, a champion of democracy, equality and the rights of women, and a courageous voice for those who are often unheard,” Kenta said.
The party said Kawuki had represented the aspirations of Taita Taveta residents with dedication and purpose, seeking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the people she served.
The party also paid tribute to her legacy, describing her as a patriot whose life was marked by service, courage and a belief in the power of public institutions to transform lives.
“At a time such as this, words can hardly capture the pain of losing a colleague, a sister in service and a fellow patriot whose journey was cut tragically short,” the statement said.
The party extended its condolences to the Kawuki family, her friends, colleagues, supporters and the people of Taita Taveta County, urging them to draw comfort from the memories of her life and service.
The party also offered prayers for the family and all those mourning her death, expressing hope that they would find strength during the difficult period.
“May the Almighty God grant the family fortitude to bear this painful loss, comfort all those who mourn her, and grant Hon. Margaret Kawuki eternal rest,” the statement said.
The statement did not disclose the circumstances surrounding Kawuki’s death or provide details of funeral arrangements.
