President William Ruto has mourned Mzee Joseph Nduati Kamachu, the father of Nominated Senator Veronica Maina, describing him as a devoted family man, astute entrepreneur and respected community leader.
In his condolence message, the President said Kamachu, who was born in 1933, had made a lasting contribution to his family and the wider community through his faith, leadership and entrepreneurial pursuits.
“Our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the late Mzee Joseph Nduati Kamachu following his passing,” Ruto said.
“Mzee Kamachu was a devoted family man and staunch Christian. He will be remembered as an astute entrepreneur, respected community leader and pillar of society whose impact will be felt for generations to come,” he added.
The President concluded his message by praying for the departed soul, saying: “May his soul rest in eternal peace.”
On Monday, October 26, Maina paid tribute to her father, describing him as a great patriarch, mentor and friend who sacrificed to raise her and her siblings with love.
“How do I say goodbye to my dear dad, a great patriarch and a towering authority who did everything he knew and sacrificed everything he had to raise me and all my siblings in the best way possible and with so much love!” she wrote.
Maina said she was grateful for the 93 years her father had lived, despite the void his death had left in her life.
“I feel the void, but I thank God for the 93 years that He allowed us to have you on this planet! I will always love you, Baba!” she said.
She concluded her tribute by referring to her father as a general and expressing hope of reuniting with him in glory.
“Rest in Peace, General, till we meet again in glory!” she wrote.
