Eldoret will host the inaugural Absa City Run on November 1, 2026, with participants expected to take part in 3km, 5km and 10km races aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles and strengthening community bonds.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will bring together families, fitness enthusiasts, running clubs and residents of all ages, with participants encouraged to walk, jog or run at their own pace. Elite athletes are also expected to compete in the 10km race.
Eldoret will be the first city to host Absa’s new City Run series, which seeks to bring communities together through wellness, active living and shared experiences.
The initiative forms part of Absa Bank Kenya’s celebrations marking 100 years of partnership with customers and communities in the region.
Absa Bank Kenya Eldoret regional manager Timothi Kosgey said the event reflects the bank’s commitment to supporting local communities while encouraging residents to embrace active lifestyles.
“For 100 years, Absa has been part of Eldoret’s growth story, supporting generations of customers, businesses, and communities as they pursue their ambitions. This milestone is an opportunity to celebrate that shared journey while looking ahead to the future,” Kosgey said.
“The launch of the Absa Eldoret City Run reflects our commitment to creating experiences that bring communities together, promote wellness, and encourage people to be active while celebrating the unique spirit of Eldoret."
Kosgey urged residents to turn out in large numbers and make the inaugural event a celebration of community spirit.
“We invite every resident of Eldoret to be part of this historic event. Whether you are joining the 3km Fun Run with your family, taking on the 5km challenge, or participating in the 10km route, this event is about coming together as a community, embracing healthy lifestyles, and creating memorable experiences,” he said.
“We look forward to seeing thousands of residents turn out and make the inaugural Absa Eldoret City Run a true celebration of community spirit,” Kosgey added.
The run is expected to provide an inclusive platform for residents to engage in physical activity while celebrating Eldoret’s community identity and Absa’s longstanding relationship with the region.
