Top Kenya's mineral royalties (Sh millions)

Kenya generated significant revenue from its extractive sector during the 2025/26 financial year, driven heavily by top-earning natural resources.

According to data from the State Department for Mining, soda ash emerged as the leading revenue generator, pulling in 195.52 million shillings.

Gold closely followed as the second-highest earning mineral, contributing 175.22 million shillings to the exchequer.

Salt secured the third position with 131.24 million shillings. Trailing further behind in the rankings, construction minerals recorded 23.04 million shillings, while rough gemstones brought in 22.6 million shillings.

Collectively, these top five resources dominated the sector's financial returns, accounting for 92.45 percent of total mineral royalties collected over the period.

The figures underscore a heavy reliance on a select group of commodities to anchor the country's mineral wealth performance for the 2025/26 fiscal cycle.
