Sky Victor, the daughter of the late Kikuyu gospel musician Betty Bayo, posted an emotional message on Facebook Live after a court decision on her care.
The ruling granted legal custody of Sky and her younger brother, Danny, to their biological father, Prophet Victor Kanyari. The decision means the children must leave the home of their stepfather, Hiram Gitau, widely known as Tash.
Sky revealed that she firmly opposes moving into her biological father's home. She said she prefers to stay in the home her late mother left them.
An Emotional Broadcast
In the live broadcast, Sky expressed immense pain over the impending relocation. She stated that she would rather join her deceased mother than move into Kanyari's residence.

"If you're going to take me from this house, please take me where mom is," Sky said during the live stream. "Let me go lie with her."
She added that her feelings had reached a breaking point.
"Wherever my mom is, I go to heaven with her before you even take me to my baba," she said. "Please, I'm not going there. And I refuse. I refuse completely. I refuse. I refuse."
A Plea to Remain at Home
Sky explained that her primary motivation for speaking out was her concern for her younger brother, Danny. She noted that watching her brother suffer had been deeply distressing.
"And I'm not doing this live for me," Sky stated during the broadcast. "I'm doing it for Danny. It's very painful watching him cry."
Directly appealing to viewers and authorities, Sky begged for permission to remain in their current environment. "Let us just stay where our mom left us," she pleaded. "That's all we beg. That's all we ask for."
The Family Battle
The family dispute follows the death of gospel artist Betty Bayo in November 2025. Bayo was previously married to Prophet Victor Kanyari, with whom she had two children, Sky and Danny.
Following her separation from Kanyari, Bayo married Hiram Gitau, alias Tash, in December 2021. The two children lived with Bayo and Tash as a unified household.
After Bayo's passing, a custody dispute emerged between Kanyari and Tash. Kanyari initiated legal proceedings to secure full parental rights, maintaining that he wanted to raise his biological children personally.
Under Section 34 of the Children Act, parental responsibility automatically prioritises a surviving biological parent upon the death of the mother.

However, legal experts note that courts also weigh the emotional bond of minors and their expressed preferences.
For now, the young family remains in the public eye as observers monitor how this domestic transition unfolds.
