Media personality DJ Xclusive has responded to the row over gospel singer Mercy Masika’s Becoming a Wife masterclass by announcing a programme for men. The move appeared to be a playful reply to women who questioned why marriage lessons were aimed at wives.
DJ Xclusive Teases Women, Calls Men to ‘Assemble’
In an Instagram post on Monday, October 26, 2026, DJ Xclusive said men should also get a chance to learn about marriage. He teased women over their reaction to Masika’s announcement.
“Sawa ladies nimewaskia and I’m here to help the men as well …. 🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂,” he began.
He then asked why women had reacted so strongly. “But mmekula moto Kama dragon kwa nini? Si mfanye hizo masterclass zingine zenye mnataka na wale wa marriage wafanye Yao? 🤣🤣🤣,” he wrote.
He ended with a call to men: “Hayaa Men Kindly assemble.”
The Debate: Why Must Women Always Take the Class?
Masika’s masterclass has reignited a long-running debate on Kenyan social media about gender expectations in marriage.
Critics argue that marriage requires equal participation from both partners. They ask why women are routinely steered towards “wifehood training” while men are rarely expected to prepare formally for husbandhood.
Many users say Kenyan society has a double standard. They argue that when a marriage succeeds or fails, the woman’s abilities are often the focus, while a husband’s shortcomings are glossed over.
The question dominated timelines: why are women expected to attend classes on how to submit, cook and manage a home, while men face no similar expectation of preparation?
Supporters have countered that marriage takes learning and guidance, and that women who want the programme should be free to choose it.
DJ Xclusive Keeps the Conversation Going
DJ Xclusive’s playful call for a men’s masterclass has kept the focus on shared effort in marriage. It is unclear whether it will become a formal event or remain banter.
