Kayole Starlets striker Calta Nasambu says her move to Turkish Women’s Premier League side Haymana Spor Kulübü is a dream come true as she begins a new chapter in her football career.
The 21-year-old left Kenya on Monday to join the Turkish club on a contract running until May 2027, with an option to extend.
Nasambu, who has long aspired to play abroad, said she was determined to make the most of the opportunity and take her career to greater heights.
“This is a dream come true. It has always been my prayer to play outside the country, and today, I am heading to Turkey. I believe this is just the beginning, and I will do my best to go even further,” she said.
At Haymana Spor Kulübü, Nasambu will reunite with former Kayole Starlets' teammates Lavin Achola and Euphrasier Shilwatso, who joined in August.
Nasambu credited the Safaricom Chapa Dimba grassroots football tournament for helping open doors to international opportunities, while thanking her former clubs, Barcelona Ladies SC and Kayole Starlets, for supporting her development.
“Safaricom taking me to Spain through Chapa Dimba opened the door to international opportunities. I cannot thank them enough. I am also grateful to Barcelona Ladies SC and Kayole Starlets for believing in me and giving me a platform to showcase my talent,” she added.
Nasambu rose to prominence during the fourth season of Chapa Dimba, representing Barcelona Ladies SC and finishing as the tournament’s top scorer to help the team qualify for the national finals in Kisumu.
Her performances earned her a place in the Safaricom Chapa Dimba All-Stars squad that travelled to Huesca, Spain, in 2025 for a week-long training camp. She impressed during friendly matches on the tour and earned an opportunity to train with Huesca’s women’s first team.
She joined Kayole Starlets in February 2026 and played a key role as the club finished sixth in the Kenyan Women’s Premier League last season.
Kayole Starlets team manager Faith Odit praised Nasambu’s ability and backed her to succeed in Turkey.
“Calta is one of the most talented players at Kayole Starlets. The way she controls and possesses the ball clearly shows that she has a bright future ahead of her,” Odit said.
