The Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) has urged national and county governments to strengthen emergency measures as heavy rains hit the country. Chairperson Claris Ogangah called for timely weather alerts, evacuation routes, temporary shelters and clean water to prevent deaths and displacement. The commission also urged protection against gender-based violence, continuity of health services, uninterrupted national examinations, transparent emergency spending and special support for children, older persons and people with disabilities.
