The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced the temporary closure of the Nairobi Southern Bypass from Ole Sereni Interchange to Kikuyu Town ahead of the 2026 Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon.

In a notice dated October 18, KeNHA said the road would be closed from midnight on Saturday, October 24, to 2 pm on Sunday, October 25.

The closure is intended to facilitate the annual marathon, which is scheduled for Sunday, October 25.

KeNHA has advised motorists to use Mombasa Road (A8), from Ole Sereni Interchange through Uhuru Highway, as an alternative route in both directions.

“All road users are further advised to follow the traffic signs and guidance as directed by traffic marshals and Police,” the authority said.

KeNHA is a statutory body established under the Kenya Roads Act of 2007 and inaugurated in September 2008.

It is responsible for the development, rehabilitation, management and maintenance of all National Trunk Roads comprising of Class S, A, and B roads.

It is headquartered in Nairobi and has ten regional offices and three corridor management offices.

KeNHA was certified ISO 9001: 2008 in July 2013 and was recertified to ISO 9001: 2015 in September 2018.

It is also in charge of all weigh bridge installations.
