Information, Communications and the Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo has urged Mt Kenya leaders to unite and stop engaging in political rhetoric targeting President William Ruto’s administration.

Kabogo said politicians calling for a one-term presidency were not advancing the interests of the community, urging leaders to focus on unity and support for the Kenya Kwanza government.

Speaking in Ruiru Town, Kiambu County, where he accompanied Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, the CS pledged his continued support for the administration and its leadership.

“Don't listen to petty politicians, we must unite,” Kabogo said, warning against political divisions within the Mt Kenya region.

He dismissed calls by some leaders for President Ruto to serve only one term, arguing that such political messaging did not serve the community's interests.

“We will support this government no matter what, we will not follow those people. I will support Deputy President Kindiki and we move forward,” Kabogo said.

The remarks come amid political debates within the Mt Kenya region over the government's performance, its leadership and the region's political direction ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Former Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, who also attended the meeting, called on Mt Kenya residents and leaders to continue supporting the Kenya Kwanza administration.

Kuria said the government belonged to the people of the region and rejected suggestions that he would align himself with the opposition.

“I can't go to the opposition, this is our government and we will support you, Deputy President,” Kuria said.

His remarks echoed Kabogo's call for unity and continued engagement with the current administration, as leaders seek to shape the region's political position ahead of the next election.

Thika Town MP Alice Ng’ang’a also declared her support for President Ruto's re-election bid and Kindiki's continued role in the region.

Kiambu Women Representative Ann Wamuratha also echoed similar sentiments, urging the region to end divisive politics.

She pleaded with the Deputy President to help with the construction of Ruiru Stadium.
