The National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC) has announced vacancies in four job categories, offering qualified Kenyans an opportunity to join the constitutional commission on permanent and pensionable terms.

The commission is seeking to recruit a Senior Legal Officer, a Senior Supply Chain Management Officer, two Programmes Officers I and two Drivers III, bringing the total number of advertised positions to six.

In the notice, NGEC said it was looking for highly motivated, visionary, dynamic and results-oriented candidates to fill the vacancies as part of its mandate to promote gender equality and eliminate discrimination in Kenya.

“The National Gender and Equality Commission is an equal-opportunity employer. Persons with Disability, Youth, Women and People from Minority and Marginalised communities are encouraged to apply,” the commission said.

Established under the National Gender and Equality Commission Act No. 15 of 2011, pursuant to Article 59(4) and (5) of the Constitution, the commission focuses on protecting the rights of special interest groups, including women, children, youth, persons with disabilities, older members of society, minorities and marginalised communities.

Applicants who meet the minimum requirements are required to submit a detailed curriculum vitae, a copy of their national identity card, copies of academic and professional certificates, and the names and contact details of three referees.

The commission has directed that all applications be submitted in hard copy only.

NGEC cautioned applicants against falling victim to recruitment fraud, stating that it does not ask for money or require applicants to undergo medical examinations during the recruitment process.

Only shortlisted candidates will be notified and will be required to present original academic and professional certificates and other testimonials during interviews.

Successful candidates will subsequently be required to provide clearance certificates from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) and the Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).

The commission further warned that providing false information or documents in an application is a criminal offence, while canvassing in any form will lead to automatic disqualification.
