Senate Majority Leader and Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot/HANDOUTSenate Majority Leader and Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot has hailed President William Ruto for extending development projects to some of Kenya’s remotest areas.
Cheruiyot said communities that had been neglected for decades are now receiving government attention.
Speaking during Ruto’s development tour of the North Rift in Kapyego, Marakwet East, Elgeyo Marakwet County, the Kericho senator said the President had demonstrated a commitment to reaching marginalised communities across the country.
“No one believed that remote regions of Kenya like Kapyego in Elgeyo Marakwet would ever be remembered, yet you have visited marginalised villages from Lungalunga to Nyanza. You are the first president to bring development to parts of Kenya that were neglected for decades by past administrations,” Cheruiyot said.
The senator said successive governments had concentrated development in certain areas, leaving other communities feeling excluded from the country’s development agenda.
He praised Ruto for visiting areas that had previously received limited attention, arguing that the administration’s focus on remote villages was changing how residents viewed the government.
“There are so many areas you have reached,” Cheruiyot said, adding that the President’s development record would be a major factor in the 2027 General Election.
He expressed confidence that Ruto would secure a second term, arguing that communities benefiting from government projects would reward him at the ballot.
“That is why people are waiting to vote for you again because you have remembered neglected regions,” he said.
Cheruiyot also took aim at the opposition, which is seeking to rally behind a joint presidential candidate to challenge Ruto in 2027.
He argued that the opposition would struggle to dislodge the President, citing what he described as the administration’s expanding development footprint across the country.
“That is why the Opposition will never stand a chance of beating Ruto,” Cheruiyot said.
Ruto’s North Rift tour includes engagements in Elgeyo Marakwet and Baringo counties, where the President is scheduled to inspect and launch development projects as his administration continues to promote infrastructure expansion and service delivery.
The tour comes as political leaders increasingly place development achievements at the centre of their campaigns ahead of the 2027 General Election, with both the government and opposition seeking to demonstrate their ability to address the needs of communities across Kenya
