Police are investigating three separate suspected murders in Machakos, Siaya, and Kisumu counties after three men were found dead with injuries, with one suspect arrested in connection with one of the killings.
In Machakos County, detectives are investigating the death of 26-year-old David Muia, whose body was found with visible injuries around the neck along Tala-Katine Road in Matungulu Sub-County.
Police said Muia was allegedly attacked by an unknown assailant in Ngonda Village, Tala Location, on Sunday.
Officers who visited the scene found his body lying in a pool of blood. They recovered a wooden stick measuring about two metres long, which investigators suspect may have been used in the attack.
The stick was taken as an exhibit to assist with investigations, while Muia’s body was moved to Patjud Mortuary pending a postmortem examination.
The attacker’s identity and the motive for the killing had not been established by the time of reporting.
In Siaya County, a 29-year-old shopkeeper was stabbed to death at his business premises in Ngiya Market, Gem Wagai Sub-County.
David Ouma Ochieng was attacked at around 8pm on October 11, 2026, when a person known to him allegedly stabbed him on the left side of his neck with a sharp object.
Police said the incident was reported by Ochieng’s brother.
Officers who visited the scene established that Ochieng had been attacked while standing at the counter of his general shop.
He was rushed to Bama Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Detectives documented and photographed the scene, but the suspected murder weapon had not been recovered. The motive for the attack was also yet to be established.
Ochieng’s body was preserved at Bama Hospital pending a postmortem examination to determine the cause of death.
Meanwhile, police in Kisumu West Sub-County have arrested one suspect following the death of a 20-year-old man whose body was found in a banana plantation in Ndede Village.
Willis Nyang’ayo Odhiambo was found dead near Ularo River on October 11, 2026, with visible injuries on his right hand and back.
Police said a wooden club recovered at the scene is suspected to have been used in the assault.
Preliminary information indicated that Odhiambo had been seen being assaulted by people known to him earlier that morning before he succumbed to his injuries.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations in Kisumu West processed the scene before the body was moved to Masaba Mortuary, where it was preserved pending a postmortem examination.
Investigations are ongoing to establish the motive for the suspected killing and determine the circumstances that led to Odhiambo’s death.
