Kassim Abdi Sebo at the Kisii Law Courts /HANDOUTA suspect linked to violence surrounding the Linda Mwananchi Movement’s activities in Homa Bay County has pleaded guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm at Kisii Law Courts.
Kassim Abdi Sebo appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate Caroline Cheruiyot, where he admitted assaulting Maurice Ouko at Homa Bay bus terminus on July 9, 2026.
The particulars of the charge stated that Sebo assaulted Ouko, thereby occasioning actual bodily harm.
“Plea of guilty entered for the accused person, to be remanded at Kisii Central Police Station,” the court directed.
Sebo was subsequently remanded at Kisii Central Police Station pending further court proceedings.
His plea comes months after police arrested him at Homa Bay Bus Stage while executing a warrant issued by Homa Bay Law Courts on August 14, 2026.
According to an occurrence book report, the warrant related to an alleged offence of assault causing actual bodily harm, contrary to Section 251 of the Penal Code.
Police had described Sebo as a “chief goon” following his arrest, which drew renewed attention to violence that has disrupted political activities in Homa Bay county.
His arrest came amid heightened scrutiny over clashes during the Linda Mwananchi Movement’s tour of the county on August 16, involving Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and other political leaders.
The political tour was marred by confrontations, road blockades and attacks on vehicles and journalists, raising concerns over the safety of political gatherings and media practitioners.
However, the assault charge to which Sebo pleaded guilty relates to an incident reported to have occurred on July 9, before the August political tour.
The warrant authorising his arrest was also issued before the August 16 rally, meaning the case should be distinguished from any allegations arising directly from the later political violence.
The proceedings mark a development in the assault case as the court continues to handle the matter.
Sebo remains in custody at Kisii Central police station pending further proceedings, with the court expected to determine the next steps following his admission of guilt.
