President William Ruto on Sunday attended a church service at St Mark’s Catholic Church in Matunda, Likuyani Constituency, Kakamega county, as he continued his engagements in the western part of the country.
He was accompanied by Likuyani MP Innocent Mugabe and Navakholo MP Emmanuel Wangwe.
The church visit comes a day after Ruto led Mazingira Day celebrations in Endebess, Trans Nzoia county, where he championed environmental conservation and the government’s target of growing 15 billion trees by 2032.
Ruto has also made several development visits to Western Kenya this year, including a five-day tour in March that covered Kakamega, Busia, Bungoma and Vihiga counties.
During those visits, he launched road projects and housing initiatives and inspected infrastructure aimed at improving regional connectivity and supporting trade.
His administration has also prioritised the revival of the region’s sugar industry, with visits to sugar millers and the launch of road projects intended to improve transport links for farmers and businesses.
