Vihiga Governor Wilber Ottichilo has said he will not be distracted from delivering services to the people by his critics who organise heckling during public events.
Speaking in Luanda subcounty on Tuesday, the governor said his administration has an unmatched development record that will be appreciated long after his exit from office.
"Let those whose work is to heckle leaders in events do so, but heckling won't derail my efforts to deliver development to my people. For the years I have been governor, I have done a lot in terms of development. People will realise my work and my good governance after my exit," he said.
The county boss reiterated that he will continue working closely with the national government and development partners to attract more projects to the county, rather than engaging in empty politics.
Ottichilo cautioned residents against political intolerance, urging them to maintain peace as the country heads towards the 2027 General Election.
"Elections come and go, let us maintain peace. Don't fight each other because of your political leanings or political camps. If you don’t agree with a leader, simply stay away from his or her events instead of going there to heckle them or disrupt their events.”
The governor spoke while commissioning the Sh21 million Mukhwana Water Project in Mwibona ward, Luanda, which has now connected more than 170 households to clean and safe water.
The project, implemented under the Financing Locally-Led Climate Action (FLLoCA) Programme, involved construction of a 75 cubic metre masonry tank, installation of a solar pumping system, erection of a 75M³ steel elevated tank at Emutsuru Primary School, and laying of 5km of distribution and last-mile pipelines.
Ottichilo announced an additional Sh2 million from the K-WASH project to expand household connections.
He listed the Luanda Modern Market, elevation of Luanda to a municipality and the County Aggregation and Industrial Park as some of the key milestones of his administration.
