Lecturers have defended their strike, accusing the government of delaying negotiations and implementing the 2025–2029 Collective Bargaining Agreement. Speaking on an NTV morning interview, KUSU Secretary-General Charles Mukhwaya said negotiations had failed to reach an agreement despite the union being prepared to engage. He accused the government of shifting blame to its agencies over the delayed talks and implementation of the agreement.
