President William Ruto has assured Lamu residents and the entire coast locals that the East Africa oil refinery will be developed with their interests at the centre. Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony, Ruto said the rights and voices of local communities would be protected and incorporated into the project. He added that residents would benefit from job opportunities, while measures would be put in place to safeguard the environment.
