Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja and Kenya Alliance of Residents Associations CEO Henry Ochieng have agreed to strengthen community participation in El Niño preparedness and flood mitigation. Sakaja says residents’ associations will help share early warnings, encourage evacuation from high-risk areas and report emerging risks. The county has mapped 227 flood hotspots, while KARA will mobilise clean-ups, drainage clearance and identification of vulnerable households to support emergency response efforts.
