The IEBC has scheduled the Migwani Ward MCA by-election in Mwingi West Constituency, Kitui County, for November 17, 2026. IEBC Chairperson Erastus Ethekon said the election follows the declaration of a vacancy in the seat by the County Assembly Speaker on August 6. The position became vacant after Harrison Mawia resigned as MCA to take up the post of Clerk of the Kitui County Assembly. Ethekon says the election will be conducted in accordance with the Constitution and electoral laws.
