Mehfil Unplugged is specifically designed to bring these listeners together to celebrate heritage through music. The musical programme bridges old and new sounds, combining classic Bollywood tunes with current hits.

Understanding the Heritage Behind the Assembly

The word mehfil originates from Arabic and Persian, translating literally to "gathering" or "assembly.” Historically associated with the royal courts of the Mughal Empire and Nawabs, a mehfil was an intimate courtly evening of entertainment.

Traditional gatherings featured classical music, Ghazals, Thumris, and poetry recitations known as Mushairas. Guests sat on floor rugs and cushions in living rooms, courtyards, or private salons close to the performers. Mehfil Unplugged translates this tradition into a modern lifestyle event in Nairobi.

Live Band, Star Lineup, and Escalating Urgency

The stage lineup features Team East FM performing alongside the Rhythm & Raga Live Band. The ensemble relies on live acoustic instrumentation to encourage audience singalongs and crowd energy. DJ Juggy Virdee and DJ Vikash will manage the decks to close out the late-night set.
