For lovers of classic Bollywood melodies and raw instrumental sound, Mehfil Unplugged brings a modern twist to traditional South Asian music gatherings on Saturday, 26th September 2026.
Now taking place at Bao Box in Westlands from 7:00 PM, the East FM presentation swaps canned audio for real-time acoustic interplay. At the core of the experience is the live band, set to deliver an interactive night of shared vocals and collective dance.
The Rhythm & Raga Live Band
The event's primary musical highlight is the Rhythm & Raga Live Band. Operating as a fluid musical collective rather than a fixed touring ensemble, the group adapts its configuration for specific concert productions.
In Nairobi, the performance lineup features collaborating musicians. They perform alongside rotating guest vocalists and instrumentalists. The ensemble specialises in combining Indian classical musical roots with contemporary Bollywood and fusion arrangements.

Traditionally, a mehfil is a South Asian courtly gathering focused on intimate live entertainment. Originating in Persian and Arabic culture, the word translates directly to "gathering" or "assembly.”
Historically hosted in Mughal courts, guests sat close to performers to interact directly during songs.
The inclusion of a live band transforms the modern event format. Live instrumentation replaces recorded tracks with acoustic arrangements, allowing musicians to adjust tempo and dynamics based on crowd reactions.
This setup encourages spontaneous singalong moments between the audience and the performers. Organisers highlight live music, dancing, and shared crowd energy as key elements that distinguish the live band experience from standard club nights.
Event Lineup, Venue, and Ticketing
The stage programme pairs the Rhythm & Raga Live Band with Team East FM presenters. DJ Juggy Virdee and DJ Vikash will manage the decks to close out the late-night session.
