The government is rolling out long-term measures to address the milk shortage in the county, Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe has told senators. Kagwe said the government is working to increase the production of quality animal feed. Measures include irrigating fodder in ASAL areas, encouraging investment in animal feed production, waiving import duties on feed ingredients and supporting large-scale fodder farming. The government also plans to promote the production of high-quality semen for dairy livestock use.
