Breast and cervical cancer remain among the leading cancers affecting women, according to a new study published in The Lancet Oncology. The research estimates 267,000 breast cancer cases and 253,000 cervical cancer cases in 2023. Together, the two cancers accounted for more than half of female cancer cases. Researchers say prevention, early detection and timely access to treatment will be critical in reducing the growing cancer burden.
