Medical researchers have raised alarm over the surge in antimicrobial resistance (AMR) among humans, animals and in the environment. They said 6,670 deaths were attributed to AMR, while 28,500 were linked to the problem in 2021 alone. Speaking in Mombasa, the researchers called for increased funding to strengthen efforts to contain AMR and welcomed government measures to address the threat. They also advocated for the right medication to be prescribed and dispensed at the right time.
