The government has been urged to conduct a special census to establish the exact number of persons with disabilities in Kenya and guide policy. Nominated Senator Crystal Asige says current data is questionable compared to WHO estimates that 15 percent of the population has a disability. She says the issue should not be ignored, especially as politicians seek the votes of persons with disabilities ahead of the elections.
