Kenya’s Social Health Authority is expanding healthcare access, with more than 32.3 million people now covered under the programme. Since its launch in October 2024, SHA has paid Sh147.37 billion in claims, with more than 11,000 health facilities contracted. However, billions of shillings remain at various stages of verification, correction, documentation or rejection. The figures do not by themselves indicate that money has been lost or misappropriated, but highlight the ongoing claims-processing work as the system expands.
