President William Ruto on Wednesday officially began his South Rift tour with a visit to Bomet County, where he inspected and commissioned several development projects.
Ruto began by inspecting the ongoing upgrading of Itembe Airstrip in Chepalungu Constituency before launching the tarmacking of the Kapkatet-Boito-Kiptenden-Kapkoros-Kiplelji-Kapkwen-Siongiroi road.

He later commissioned the Bomet Affordable Housing Project and handed over keys to beneficiaries before commissioning the new Bomet County Assembly chambers and newly constructed roads in Bomet town.
Speaking in Bomet, Ruto said the government was investing Sh19 billion to construct and upgrade 11 roads covering more than 380 kilometres across the county.

He added that Sh2.8 billion was being invested to connect 25,000 households to electricity, while Sh1.78 billion had been allocated for the construction of 11 modern markets.
On universal healthcare, Ruto said the government had paid hospitals in Bomet Sh3.2 billion over the past one and a half years, helping to strengthen residents' access to quality healthcare.
