Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi has said he will announce his political plans at a later date, urging residents to first judge his leadership based on his development record.

Speaking in Misri, Limuru East, on Tuesday, Wamatangi said he had deliberately remained quiet about party politics because he did not want his political affiliation to be the basis on which residents assess him.

“I said I will not come to ask for votes with empty rhetoric and lies. I will come with a record of work,” Wamatangi said.

Wamatangi said he had not yet joined a political party but indicated that he knew the party he would eventually join.

“Even though I have not joined a party and I have not gone into politics now, it does not mean I do not know which party I will go to,” he said.

The governor said he would announce his political plans later, asking residents to focus first on his performance.

“I want us to listen to each other until November, until January, then Wamatangi will announce matters of the party,” he said.

He urged residents to question him about his development record before discussing the 2027 election.

“Ask me about the work first, ask me about the roads that remain, then let us come and talk about elections,” Wamatangi said.

He said this was his approach to leadership, insisting that his work should be the basis for assessing him.

“That is my style of working,” he said.

Wamatangi also referred to his previous political experience, saying he would choose a party that respects citizens.

“I know the party I will go to, but you do not know. We will not enter a party that takes us nowhere. A party that respects every citizen,” he said.

Wamatangi said he would use the example of previous leadership to continue advancing Kiambu County.
