President William Ruto has assented to the Public Finance Management (Amendment) Bill, 2025, seeking to strengthen financial accountability and public participation. The law provides for timely remittance of statutory deductions, requires county assemblies to pass Finance Bills before the start of a new financial year, and reduces the period for public institutions to submit financial statements to the Auditor-General from three months to two. It also extends the period for considering the Budget Policy Statement from 14 to 21 days. Ruto also signed the National council for population and development bill, air passenger service amendment bill and trust administration bill.
