Four years into President William Ruto’s administration, Kenya’s green transformation is taking root. The government says 1.7 billion trees have been planted under the ambitious national tree-growing campaign, advancing the 15-billion-tree target by 2032. Launched in December 2022, the initiative seeks to restore 10.6 million hectares of degraded landscapes and raise national tree cover to 30 per cent, spanning forests, farmlands, wetlands, rangelands and cities.
