The fight against female genital mutilation, early marriages and sexual and gender-based violence is gaining momentum in Meru County. A 48-bed safe house is being established in Igembe Central to provide protection and support for survivors. The initiative comes amid rising cases of sexual and gender-based violence in the county and is expected to offer survivors a safe environment, care and support as they recover.
