The government has defended its crackdown on foreigners working in Kenya without valid work permits, saying the exercise seeks to enforce compliance. Trade CS Lee Kinyanjui accused some foreigners of abusing visa-free entry and the removal of electronic travel authorisation requirements to engage in activities outside the terms of their entry. He said the crackdown will be orderly and transparent, while respecting the East African Community treaty on free movement of people and goods. Non-compliant foreigners risk having their visas revoked.
