The Coalition for Human Rights, Constitutionalism and Refugee Protection has condemned a reported government directive targeting foreign small-scale traders. Speaking in Nairobi, the Coalition said enforcement must comply with Kenya’s Constitution, the Refugees Act 2021, regional obligations and international human-rights standards. It is calling for suspension of any blanket shutdown, disclosure of the directive’s legal basis, and stakeholder consultations to protect lawful traders and refugees.
