Diploma holders in pharmacy could face restrictions on managing drug stores in health centres and handling certain medicines if proposed guidelines are adopted. The Kenya Pharmaceutical Association has rejected the 2026 Good Pharmacy Practice Guidelines, saying pharmaceutical technologists were not adequately consulted. The association argues Kenya has nearly 10,000 pharmaceutical technologists compared with fewer than 3,000 degree-holding pharmacists, making the proposed changes difficult to implement.
