Deputy President Kithure Kindiki during an event in Meru/DPCSDeputy President Kithure Kindiki has challenged the Opposition to face Kenyans in the 2027 General Election, saying he and President William Ruto are ready to defend the Government’s record.
Kindiki said the Kenya Kwanza administration was prepared to return to the voters and explain what it had delivered during its first four years in office.
“We are ready to explain to the people of Kenya what we have done in the last four years. We are not afraid, we are not in any doubt, we are willing to face the people directly,” Kindiki said.
Speaking Friday, September 4, 2026, at Kinoru Stadium in Meru Town during a meeting with UDA polling centre officials from Meru County, the Deputy President said the 2027 contest should give Kenyans an opportunity to assess leaders based on their performance.
He urged voters to judge political leaders by what they had achieved while in office, rather than relying solely on political rhetoric and campaign promises.
Kindiki said the administration was confident of presenting its record to the electorate and allowing Kenyans to make their decision at the ballot.
“We are not afraid of going to the people. We are ready to account for what we have done and what we have not done,” he said.
The Deputy President also challenged opposition leaders to similarly present their alternative agenda to Kenyans instead of avoiding scrutiny over their own political records.
The Meru meeting brought together UDA grassroots officials as the ruling party continues to strengthen its structures ahead of the 2027 elections.
Kindiki urged the officials to remain united and focused on mobilising voters at the grassroots, saying strong polling-centre structures would be critical to the party's performance in the next election.
He said the administration would continue engaging citizens directly as it seeks to communicate its development agenda and defend its record.
The remarks come as political parties intensify grassroots mobilisation and positioning ahead of the 2027 polls, with the performance of the Ruto administration expected to be a major issue in the contest.
