Congolese rhumba star Fally Ipupa arrived at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Thursday evening. The celebrated musician was met with a vibrant traditional welcoming ceremony. Shortly after landing, he spoke to Mpasho journalist Kalondu Musyimi about his expectations for the weekend.
Despite a long journey, the singer was high-spirited and expressed his love for his Kenyan fanbase. He wore a red bandana, dark sunglasses, and a brown sweater as he addressed the local press.
Promises of a Historic Night
When asked what his fans should expect at his live concert, Fally Ipupa promised a spectacular performance. He described the upcoming show as a landmark event for the year.

A Strong Connection to Kenya
This is not the first time Fally Ipupa has visited the country. He noted that he has a deep connection to Nairobi and its vibrant culture. He spoke warmly about his affection for local Kenyan food, particularly mentioning his fondness for local delicacies.
"I love Nyama choma, I love Kenya. I love Nairobi, so I am very excited, I can’t wait to be on the stage,” he added.
When asked about potential musical collaborations with local acts, Fally Ipupa pointed out his existing history with Kenyan musicians. He confirmed that he has already worked on multiple projects in the region.
"I made many collabs with Kenyan artist."
From Kinshasa to Global Fame
Born Faustin Ipupa Nsimba in Kinshasa on 14 December 1977, Fally Ipupa has enjoyed a stellar career. In 1999, he joined Koffi Olomide’s legendary band, Quartier Latin International. He worked as a singer, dancer, and songwriter before serving as the group’s musical director.
He launched his solo career in 2006 with the release of his debut solo album, Droit Chemin. The project achieved massive commercial success across the continent.

He has since performed at prestigious global venues, including the Accor Arena in Paris. His unique ability to blend traditional Congolese rhumba and soukous with modern R&B and pop has made him a household name.
