Children attending day schools could be particularly vulnerable to sexual abuse, prompting calls for religious leaders to use worship services to educate children and communities on prevention and reporting. Faith in Action organization activist Shina Mbau says many parents lack sufficient time to engage their children on safety concerns following the reopening of schools. Mbau said religious institutions can help bridge the gap by creating safe spaces for children to discuss abuse and encouraging them to speak up and seek help.
