Kenya’s human rights activists have petitioned the Ministry of Foreign Affairs calling for the release of Ugandan opposition figure Kizza Besigye and other East African prisoners, including Tanzania’s Tundu Lissu. The activists marched from Nairobi CBD to the ministry, accusing the Kenyan government of aiding Besigye’s alleged abduction and illegal detention. Human rights defender Fredrick Ojiro urged Kenyans to stand firm against abductions.
